Expanded our partnership with THE HOME DEPOT® to offer PPG’s OLYMPIC brand stains at locations in the U.S.

Opened a new distribution center in Chihuahua, Mexico.

June

Announced plans for a new 41,000-square-meter distribution center in Flower Mound, Texas, which will become our largest distribution center for architectural paints and coatings in the U.S. and Canada.

Officially opened the new PPG SCIENCE PAVILION at the Carnegie Science Center, in Pittsburgh. The $33 million, 4,400-square-meter expansion ushers in a new era of enhanced STEM programs, state-of-the-art exhibits, and public exploration of science and technology.

July

Marked the 135th anniversary of PPG’s founding with our leaders ringing the closing bell on the New York Stock Exchange.

PPG’s board of directors approved a seven-percent quarterly dividend increase to 48 cents per share.

October

Acquired HODIJ Coatings, a leading distributor of well-known professional paint brands, based in The Netherlands.

November

Announced a new dispense cell being built at our Kunshan, China, coatings manufacturing facility. The new cell will increase production flexibility and productivity at the site, while also delivering significant cost savings, shortened delivery cycles and reduced emissions.

December

Completed the acquisition of SEM Products, a U.S.-based manufacturer of specialized automotive refinish products.

Celebrated the 65th anniversary of the COMEX® brand’s founding and subsequent transformation into a leading paint and coatings manufacturer in Mexico and Central America.

Announced a definitive agreement to acquire Whitford, a global manufacturer that specializes in low-friction and nonstick coatings for industrial applications and consumer products. The transaction is expected to close in the first quarter 2019, subject to customary closing conditions.
