Strategic Milestones


Completed a $40 million project to add on-site resin production at our Sumaré, São Paulo, Brazil, coatings manufacturing facility.

Acquired specialty wood-care and paint products brand, FLOOD Australia. 


Acquired REVOCOAT, a global supplier of sealants, adhesives and damper products for the automotive industry.


Expanded investment in the global communities where we operate with the launch of the $10 million-over-10-years COLORFUL COMMUNITIES™ strategic initiative, which aims to enhance, protect and beautify neighborhoods where we operate. Together with community partners and PPG employees who volunteer, the program supports projects that transform community assets using donated PPG products. In 2015, we completed 11 Colorful Communities projects, and we expect to complete about 30 more in 2016.


Completed the acquisition of Consorcio Latinoamericano, a network of 57 paint stores in Central America.


Acquired Cuming Microwave, a manufacturer of coatings that absorb microwaves and radio waves and that have applications in military aircraft, electronics, telecommunications and medical equipment.


Michael H. McGarry became PPG President and CEO. McGarry, who previously served as President and Chief Operating Officer, succeeded Chairman and CEO Charles E. Bunch. Bunch, who led PPG for the last decade, continues to serve as Executive Chairman. 
Acquired IVC Industrial Coatings, a U.S.-based manufacturer of specialty powder and liquid coatings for industrial applications. Completed a $3.8 million expansion at our Laguna de Duero, Valladolid, Spain, paint and coatings facility, enabling an 80 percent increase in the site’s annual production capacity.

Marked completion of a $27 million expansion at our San Juan del Rio, Quéretaro, Mexico, facility, to meet increasing demand for PPG paints and coatings.


Acquired the remaining interest in Chemfil Canada, enhancing the ability to supply pretreatment coatings to automotive manufacturers and industrial customers in Canada.
Acquired majority interest in a new joint venture, called Sealants Europe SAS, formed with the aerospace and automotive sealants and adhesives business of Le Joint Français (LJF).


Began using chloride-grade titanium dioxide (TiO2) produced by Henan Billions at its new plant in the Henan Province of China using technology it licensed from PPG.
